Finally home from a fantastic Cocker Championship. The atmosphere was great, terrain was extreme, and the company was second to none. Big thanks to David Gosling for the support and driving for the 20 hour round trip.
We started the day being interviewed by Maurice for the dvd, this did nothing for my confidence and will probably come across as a burbling idiot! but i was very nervous and emotional :)
Our first run was great, picked a running cockbird and hunted on the side of a very steep mountain, Pete Avery was on the left and at times was over 100ft above me. Sadly no flush but Meg hunted well and she was called up after 45 mins. Our second run started after 4pm, Meg was hunting a back wind very nicely with pace and style when a loose bird was shot which we didnt see fall, was taken round and sent but after flushing several birds out of sight she failed to pick, with Pete being called over for an eyewipe.
Really enjoyed the whole experience, Meg was the youngest dog to compete so plenty of time for her.
Huge congratulations to the winner Richard Preest, an absolute gentleman of the sport, and also to Pete, Diploma of merit with Brows and Guns Choice.
Many thanks for all the good wishes and particularly to those who made it all so memorable, Angelo Lo Curto, Jaseon Atkinson, David Gosling, and lots of others.
